This inaugural event will feature internationally acclaimed artist Basil Watson, known for creating powerful public monuments that celebrate civil rights, and the beauty of human strength and resiliency.
Watson’s remarkable portfolio includes “Hope Moving Forward,” a 12-foot monument of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. located by Mercedes-Benz Stadium right here in Atlanta. His most recent work, “Towards Freedom,” honoring abolitionists Lewis and Harriet Hayden, was unveiled in Lexington, Kentucky on Juneteenth by Governor Andy Beshear.
This exclusive evening will feature an Art Talk where Mr. Watson will discuss his creative process, inspirations, and the stories behind his most notable works.
